Penelope Rose Shook!

Me holding my beautiful little girl.
She was born on January 12th, 2009 at 7:42 PM PST. Did you notice that she was born at 7:42? She’s already well-acquainted with the Answer to the Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. She was 6 lbs. 12 oz. and 19 1/2 inches. The reason it’s taken me a full week to get this posted is because just a day or so after we brought her home she got jaundice pretty bad and had to be taken to the hospital for a couple days. She is doing much better now. One thing I have noticed with her is that she actually cries very little. Our first son, Sebastian, had colic and was inconsolable at times, so this is a welcome change. Oh, she does make an interesting noise, though. Sometimes she’ll just let out a little squeak like a dog toy. It’s absolutely adorable! I am, of course, an impartial observer and so am qualified to make such objective statements. Oh, here’s another picture of her with her mommy.

The two most beautiful women in my life.
I am so proud right now. I’m especially proud of my wife who managed to make it through a full 24-hour labor (her water broke around 7:45 PM PST on the night before) and gave birth completely naturally as the epidural had worn off completely. She has proven time after time that the term “The Weaker Sex” is complete BS! Penelope’s future is especially bright having her as a role model. Ok, you may all commence with the Ooohing and Aaahing as appropriate.

BTW: Apparently someone was inaugurated as president of something or other today. I’m sure it’s not important.

Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! The way she’s looking at you is so sweet – it’s the same way my little girl looks at her daddy.
